Hi

Simple question. When I join with someone (eventually) they just run away. How do I get cooperation and do quests together? Who is in charge and decides what to do. Me or Him?

Thanks

Communication is key. If the person(s) that you're teamed with aren't willing to communicate each step of the way before running off then it's time to find new teammates.

When I group with my friends we verify before hand which quests we all have in common. Then we agree on the order that we plan on doing them and then moving out accordingly. If we need to use the world map to zone travel then we make sure that everyone in the group understands what we are doing and where to regroup.

No one is necessarily "in charge" as it's supposed to be a team effort. If someone wants to step to the plate and try to help move along the organization aspects of the team then that's something that needs to be agreed upon up front.

All in all, communication is key.

Thank you I will try and put this into practice. One further question. I presume when you log off you lose your party ie you can't always be at the computer at the same time?

Well I'm not certain what you mean by "you can't always be at the computer at the same time" but I'm highly medicated right now so even the simplest things go over my head. However, I can say with certainty that when you log off you will automatically be removed from your party.

Whoever "started" the group is the defacto leader. If you join someone else they are the leader.

I'm not entirely sure, but you may not be able to do all the quests if the leader of the party has already done them. I'm still trying to figure this out for myself, but since I don't spend a lot of Tiem re-doing quests I've already completed I haven't made a conclusive discovery yet.

However, I do know that the party leader does not get a direction arrow for any quests he's already completed. So if you need to retrive object X that's located on the map and the party leader has already done that, the object may still be there but the leader won't know how to get there unless he happens to just "remember" where it was if you don't tell him.

I also find that player groups are more likely to stick to specific tasks, like doing the plot missions together. It keeps everyone focused on a single task instead of everyone trying to do all of their separate missions. Some quests don't work well for parties either, like the "Feed Joe" quest you get in Yak's Bend. Everybody works individually to feed Joe, so there's never enough food to give to that pet for everybody in the party.

Which begs the question why Joe is such a picky eater and won't just rip into a Centaur's horse flesh, but I digress...

Parties of PCs are like a rock band. Members come and go between tours.

I've often noticed that parties tend to break up after some big mission, because everyone wants to rest up, call it quits, go do something else, etc.

But yea, if you log out you lose yoru party. If you warp to a town via the big area map you lose your party. The only way you don't lose the party is if everybody travels together from area to area without tryign to take a shortcut.

Talking

as to what was said about quests being done when the group leader has already done the the quest. yes, you can still do the quest and get credit for it, doesnt matter if the person has done it or not, all that matters is if people have em or not. i know this from helping alot of my guild members out and constantly doing quests over and over after i had already done mine. the way the world works is simple, as the group goes into the world, aka, instance, it puts all the things needed for the whole group. also, as a hint, when it comes to doing ALOT of quests at once with a group, try to let tanks lead IMO, and if the tanks do not have the quest, let someone else that has it lead but back off when geting aggro.

as for losing your party after logging, ya, as said, you leave the group when you do so. but, dont think that'll mean you'll never be able to group with same person agian. just put people you like on your friends list, this way you know when they are on and you can send them a whisper.

also, IMO, how i like to run groups, or rather how i react in a group is simple, the groupleader is the main man/woman, you stay near him/her and listen to what they have to say, if they state so and so is leading the pack through, then follow that person instead. its just how i do things and some do or dont, just makes life easier ya know? also as a tip, kick non responsive people from your group, those that dont talk always seem to do things wrong in my exp. and boot those that dont seem to listen, the best groups are the ones that work together and comunicate, vigilantes suck and always end up geting the group killed.

Very succinctly put! And very true, indeed. GW is all about teamwork. If someone isn't into teamwork, then they need to stick with the henchmen.
